To make a changing pad for a baby, you will need:
Fabric (cotton or flannel)
Quilt batting or foam padding
Sewing machine or needle and thread
Ruler or measuring tape
1、Measure and cut two pieces of fabric to your desired size for the changing pad. A typical size is 18" x 24". Make sure the two pieces are the same size.
2、Cut a piece of quilt batting or foam padding the same size as the fabric pieces.
3、Place one of the fabric pieces right side down on a flat surface. Place the quilt batting or foam padding on top of the fabric.
4、Place the other fabric piece right side up on top of the padding. Pin the layers together around the edges.
5、Sew around the edges of the pad, leaving a 3-4 inch gap on one side.
6、Turn the pad right side out through the gap.
7、Fold the raw edges of the gap under and pin them closed.
8、Topstitch around the entire pad, about 1/4 inch from the edge, closing the gap as you go.
9、Use the ruler to mark lines on the pad to make folding it easier. One line should be about 7 inches from the bottom of the pad, and another line should be about 12 inches from the bottom.
10、Fold the pad along the first line, so that the bottom 7 inches are folded up. Then fold along the second line, so that the bottom 12 inches are folded up. This will create a pocket for the baby's head and upper body.
11、Use the iron to press the folds in place.
Your baby changing pad is now complete and ready to use! You can use it on its own, or place it on top of a changing table or dresser. Remember to clean the changing pad regularly to keep it hygienic and free of bacteria.
